Harmony Sinfonia Presents 'Story Time'

6pm, Saturday 29th November

Harmony Sinfonia is a wonderful local orchestra providing music to the community. On Saturday 29th November we’re performing the next in our concert series, Harmony Sinfonia Presents ‘Story Time’. An evening featuring ageless tales of colourful characters: fairy-tale princesses, Arabian sailors and sultans, and Russian aristocrats.
We’ll be playing Prokofiev’s 1938 suite from the film Lieutenant Kijé, a satirical story poking fun at the incompetence of a fictional tsar called Paul. This is followed by Tchaikovsky’s suite from the 1889 ballet Sleeping Beauty, based on the fairy tale by the Grimm brothers. The finale is Rimsky-Korsakov’s 1888 orchestral tone poem Scheherazade, a sumptuous and elegant depiction of the tales of The Arabian Nights.

Under-18s can come for free and don’t require a ticket. The 6pm concert start time makes it excellent for families interested in live music. There’ll be refreshments at the interval and we finish around 8pm.
