Photos of our outreach programme, Summer 2010.

Harmony Sinfonia secured funding from the Mayor's Fund of Lewisham, in the ward of Brockley, to provide outreach workshops to primary school children. We selected John Stainer Community School and a class of Year 6's to share with them our love of orchestral instruments and film music. The children were very enthusiastic about seeing and hearing instruments up close, and Arturo's double bass was a particular favourite! A large part of the workshops was musicians working with the children to compose their own piece of film music using percussive and melodic instruments as well as our orchestral instruments. The children were very active - we've played Film Bingo, identified famous movie themes, compared and contrasted themes of characters in movies, and created their own music. The workshops concluded on the 24th June with performances from all the Year 6's to other children in the school. The children worked hard on their beautiful singing voices and joined us in our concert performance of Lord of the Rings on July 3rd 2010.
